In Bilecik, the wish of Celil Gülen, who passed away at the age of 90 yesterday, to be carried with his “Murat 124” model car that he had taken care of like his own child for 29 years, was fulfilled by his relatives. Gülen, who had been meticulously caring for his 1975 model, all original parts, green Tofaş “Murat 124” as if it were his own child, passed away in his home yesterday after cleaning his car with a cloth every morning and evening. According to his wish, Gülen’s casket was placed on the roof of his Murat 124, mounted on a stand that he himself had prepared, and brought from his home in Cumhuriyet Mahallesi to the Osmangazi Mosque. Gülen’s 58-year-old son-in-law Osman Bal told journalists that his father-in-law loved his car very much and spent most of his time taking care of it. Bal expressed his sadness at the loss of his father-in-law and said, “The deceased had a wish, saying ‘Let this car be my hearse.’ We have fulfilled his wish. May he rest in peace.” After the afternoon prayer, Gülen’s body was taken to Pelitözü Köyü Cemetery and laid to rest.
