How to Receive Caregiver Support for Working Mothers? Where to Apply for the €510 Support Payment?

A joint project funded by the Republic of Turkey and the European Union (EU) and implemented by the Social Security Institution (SGK) provides financial support to working mothers. The details of the project aimed at supporting women’s workforce participation and the registered employment of working women have become a topic of interest. Full-time working mothers will receive €510 or the equivalent of 18,926 Turkish Lira, while single or mothers of children with special needs will receive €560 or the equivalent of 20,779 Turkish Lira. So, how can working mothers access caregiver support?Last year, within the European Union-supported project carried out by the SGK, 3,500 insured mothers with children aged 0-36 months in Ankara, Istanbul, and Izmir received €325 support per month for 12 months. Now, applications for the project in 2025 are underway. Within the 20-month duration of the project in Istanbul, Ankara, and Izmir, the monthly support amount for 2025 was set at 15 million 295 thousand lira.The Minister of Labor and Social Security, Vedat Işıkhan, announced that this year, more than 15 million euros in support will be provided to working mothers in 3 cities under the “EDU-CARE II Project – Supporting Registered Women Employment through Incentivizing Educated Child Care Assistants.” Işıkhan emphasized that they support mothers in joining registered employment through the project and promote insured and educated child care. He stated, “In Ankara, Istanbul, and Izmir, more than 15 million lira in support will be provided for the project in 2025.” The monthly support amounts for this year within the 20-month project are as follows: “€510 for full-time working mothers, €560 for single or mothers of children with special needs, €255 for part-time working mothers, and €305 for single or part-time working mothers of children with special needs.”Applications can be submitted to the provincial directorates of the Ministry of Family and Social Services or through the Social Security Institution (SGK). Mothers residing with their children in Istanbul, Ankara, and Izmir can apply through the SGK’s “sgkegitimlibakici.org” and “sgk.org.tr” websites using their e-Government password. Full-time working mothers will receive 18,926 lira, Single or mothers of children with special needs will receive 20,779 lira, Part-time working mothers will receive 9,462 lira, and Single or part-time working mothers of children with special needs will receive 11,317 lira.• At the time of application (during pre-registration), your child must be between 0-24 months old (up to the 24th month),• Residing in one of the provinces of Ankara, Istanbul, or Izmir,• Living in the same house as your child,• If you are a single mother, you must have custody of your child and live at the same address as the child,• Employed full-time or part-time under an employer by the cut-off registration date (excluding those under pension funds not transferred to the SGK for all 5510 Law No. 4/a insured individuals),• If you work full-time, you must employ an educated child caregiver as a full-time insured employee,• If you work part-time, you must employ an educated child caregiver as a part-time insured employee,• Not be on maternity leave during the project period according to SGK records,• Pay your caregiver at least the minimum wage level (half of the minimum wage for part-time caregivers), and• You must not work as a caregiver within the project scope.
