It has been revealed that Iceland’s Minister of Education and Child Affairs, Thorsdottir, had a child with an underage boy 36 years ago. The Minister has resigned from her position.

According to BBC reports, Icelandic Minister of Education and Child Affairs, Asthildur Thorsdottir, had a relationship with 15-year-old Eirik Asmundsson when she was 22 and serving in a religious group.

Following the revelation that Thorsdottir had a child with an underage boy 36 years ago, she resigned from her position. Icelandic Prime Minister, Kristrun Mjoll Frostadottir, called Thorsdottir to her office after the news broke. Thorsdottir submitted her resignation during this meeting. It was stated that Thorsdottir had a child from the relationship. Thorsdottir, in a statement to Iceland’s Visir website, said, “It has been 36 years. Much has changed since then, and today I would handle this situation very differently if it were to happen again.” She emphasized that this relationship was a mistake from her youth and did not want it to overshadow her work in the ministry.

Iceland is known as one of the happiest countries in the world.
