Increase in Company Activities in the Euro Area

In March, there was an increase in the activities of companies in the Euro Area. S&P Global and Hamburg Commercial Bank (HCOB) announced the Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) preliminary data for the Euro Area for March. According to the data, the composite PMI, which was 50.2 in February, rose to 50.4 in March, reaching its highest level in the past 7 months. The manufacturing PMI, which was 47.6 in February, increased to 48.7 in March, reaching its highest level in the past 26 months. However, the service sector PMI decreased from 50.6 to 50.4 during this period. In the PMI data, a level above 50 indicates sectoral growth, while a level below indicates contraction. The data revealed that total activities increased in the Euro Area along with the recovery in production.
