Increase in Foreign Trade Deficit

Turkey’s exports decreased by 1.6% in February, reaching $20.761 billion. During this period, the foreign trade deficit increased by 14.8% to $7.771 billion. The Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) announced the foreign trade statistics for February. Accordingly, exports in February decreased by 1.6% compared to the same month of the previous year, amounting to $20.761 billion, while imports increased by 2.4% to $28.533 billion. Exports in the January-February period increased by 2% compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching $41.921 billion, while imports increased by 5.9% to $57.235 billion. INCREASE IN TRADE DEFICIT In February, the foreign trade deficit increased by 14.8% from $6.767 billion to $7.771 billion compared to the same month of the previous year. The export-to-import ratio decreased from 75.7% in February 2024 to 72.8% in February 2025. During the January-February period, the foreign trade deficit increased by 18.2% from $12.952 billion to $15.314 billion. The export-to-import ratio decreased from 76% in January-February 2024 to 73.2% in the same period of 2025.
