Increased Coverage and Premium Amounts for Compulsory Earthquake Insurance (DASK)

Compulsory Earthquake Insurance (DASK) has increased its maximum coverage and minimum premium amounts. The Insurance and Private Pension Regulatory and Supervisory Authority has made changes to the compulsory earthquake insurance tariff and instruction communiqué. HOW MUCH IS THE COVERAGE AMOUNT FOR COMPULSORY EARTHQUAKE INSURANCE? According to the communiqué published in the Official Gazette, the maximum coverage amount for a residence under Compulsory Earthquake Insurance has been increased from 1,272,000 TL to 1,704,162 TL. HOW MUCH ARE THE PREMIUM AMOUNTS FOR COMPULSORY EARTHQUAKE INSURANCE? The regulation published in the Official Gazette also updated the minimum premium amounts for Compulsory Earthquake Insurance. According to the risk group, the amounts were updated to not be less than 1,441 TL, 1,283 TL, 1,092 TL, 1,024 TL, 765 TL, 546 TL, and 371 TL respectively. The square meter basis for insurance value was set at 8,039 TL for reinforced concrete dwellings and 5,359 TL for other dwellings. Additionally, the fixed amounts in the communiqué will be increased and applied based on the monthly change rate of the 2003=100 Base Year Domestic Producer Price Index announced by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) the previous month. If the announced rate is below zero, it will be considered as zero. In case of decimal points in the calculated amounts, they will be rounded up to the nearest whole number.
