Infuriating Napoleon Quote Shared by Trump: “Those Who Save their Country Do Not Violate Laws”

American President Donald Trump responded to the debates about whether he has violated American laws. Trump defended that he did not break any laws by sharing the quote attributed to Napoleon on his social media account, “Those who save their country do not violate any prohibitions.”

American President Donald Trump addressed the discussions in American public opinion about the limits of executive power with a post on the social networking platform called Truth Social. Trump shared the quote attributed to the famous French commander Napoleon Bonaparte, “Those who save their country do not violate any prohibitions.”

IMPLIED HE SAVED AMERICA Trump used the quote associated with the “Napoleonic Code” he enacted before declaring himself emperor in 1804 to imply that he “saved America” and that his actions during this process “did not violate laws.” While many users left supportive messages under Trump’s post, which he also shared on account X, more liberal sectors, including some Democratic members of Congress, criticized Trump, arguing that the quote carried a “dictatorial” meaning.

IS TRUMP VIOLATING LAWS? In American public opinion, the debates in recent weeks about Trump pushing the legal limits of executive power, and especially regarding some steps taken by Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) head Elon Musk violating laws, have become one of the main agenda topics.
