Inspection carried out on confectioners and sweet shops before the holiday

Before the holiday, inspections were conducted at workplaces producing sweets and confectionery. Teams from the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry conducted inspections at workplaces and sales points producing sweets, confectionery, and bakery products, which are expected to increase consumption before the Ramadan holiday. The General Directorate of Food and Control, affiliated with the Ministry, intensified its inspections for citizens to access safe food before the approaching Ramadan holiday. In Ankara, as part of the checks conducted at production sites and sales points of these products, samples were taken from the products by the teams, and compliance with hygiene rules was examined. Ersin Dilber, the General Manager of Food and Control at the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, said in a statement to journalists after the inspections, “Since January, we have conducted approximately 256,000 food inspections in Turkey. We have imposed administrative fines on about 5,500 businesses that we deemed risky to public health during food inspections.” Dilber noted that they have imposed more than 500 million liras in administrative fines in these inspections, and also said that they have filed criminal complaints against 150 establishments they deemed risky in terms of public health and food safety. Highlighting that they carried out inspections close to 126,000 during Ramadan, Dilber said, “We also imposed approximately 220 million lira in administrative fines during the Ramadan inspections.”
