Inspection of Exorbitant Prices in Restaurants and Markets Before Ramadan

Before the month of Ramadan, inspections of exorbitant prices continue. The Ministry of Trade conducted unfair and exorbitant price inspections at restaurants and wholesale markets in Ankara. Separate administrative sanctions were applied to businesses where irregularities were detected for each product. The Ministry’s teams continued their inspections before Ramadan to protect consumers against unfair and exorbitant prices. Within this scope, the Ministry’s teams inspected restaurants and shops in wholesale markets in Ankara.

In restaurants, compliance with the documents related to tariff and price lists, which became mandatory with the “Regulation on Amendment of the Price Tag Regulation” effective on January 1, 2024, was checked by placing them in front of the entrance and on the tables of eateries, restaurants, cafes, patisseries, and similar establishments providing food and beverage services.

SANCTIONS IMPOSED After checking the menus and tariff lists at businesses in Mustafa Kemal Mahallesi in Çankaya district, the price lists at Gimat wholesale market in Yenimahalle district were inspected.

As a result of the inspections, separate administrative sanctions were applied for each product to businesses where irregularities were found.
