Interbank Card Center announced: Card payments increased on April 2nd

According to data from the Interbank Card Center, card payments worth 28 billion TL were made on April 2nd. Thus, it was observed that card spending yesterday exceeded the March monthly average. According to the Interbank Card Center (BKM) data, on April 2nd, more transactions took place compared to April 1st, the last day of the holiday, and the transactions on the same date were higher in terms of amount than the average of March 3-22. According to BKM data, the shopping amount, which was 14 billion TL on April 1st, increased to 28 billion TL on April 2nd. While approximately 55% of all card transactions nationwide pass through BKM, the transactions processed in banks’ own systems are shared with BKM by the respective banks within 5 days. Therefore, the total card payment system data for April 2nd can be reported as early as April 7th. The graphs released by BKM were prepared based on shopping transaction data that occur daily between 00.00 and 17.00 through BKM. According to this data, it was observed that more transactions took place on April 2nd compared to April 1st, the last day of the holiday, and they were also higher than the average of March 3-22 in terms of amount. Changes in transaction volumes may vary depending on the busy shopping situation before the holiday, this week’s school break, and the 9-day administrative holiday, as well as weather conditions. However, with accumulated data in the coming days, a more accurate picture will be possible to see. According to the shared data, the daily shopping transaction amount was 28 billion TL on April 2nd, and 14 billion TL on April 1st. In the data comparing Wednesday with the previous Wednesday, on April 2nd, Wednesday, between 00.00 and 17.00, the transaction amount was 28 billion TL, while on March 26th it was 28.9 billion TL, on March 19th it was 25.3 billion TL, on March 12th it was 24.5 billion TL, and on March 6th it was 27.3 billion TL. Thus, on April 2nd, Wednesday, except for the Wednesday before the holiday, a higher turnover was achieved compared to the other Wednesdays in March.
