Introducing the New Alexa+: Your Virtual Security Guard with the Power of Artificial Intelligence

Amazon unveiled the Alexa+ (plus) assistant at a special event in New York, promising users a much more advanced and personalized experience.

Continuing to improve its virtual assistant and speaker system Alexa, which it released in 2014. The company introduced Alexa+, a more sophisticated version equipped with artificial intelligence technologies, at the New York event, attended by press members and technology enthusiasts. Speaking at the event, Amazon’s Chief Devices and Services Officer Panos Panay noted that Alexa+ can answer questions like “How many books did I read this year” using information from an Amazon customer’s account. Panay emphasized that the new assistant will provide a much more personalized experience, saying, “The New Alexa knows almost everything about your life. Your schedule, smart home, devices you use, people you communicate with, and even your entertainment preferences…”

WHAT MAKES IT DIFFERENT? The new assistant accesses a wide range of information from the books you’ve read to the events you’ve attended and uses them to offer personalized services. For example, Alexa+ can inform you about concert tickets that may interest you using data from your Amazon account, suggest restaurant reservations, and generate responses tailored to the user’s mood. Alexa+ can also gather information from visual images through its visual perception capability and use this information when answering questions. This feature is claimed to allow Alexa to interact more intelligently with users. Amazon official Panay exemplifies this feature with the statement, “It understands that I’m a bit tense and tries to calm me down.”

“WILL PROVIDE HUMAN-LIKE CONVERSATION FLOW” The new Alexa will offer a more natural and human-like conversation flow thanks to its productive artificial intelligence technologies. It will also be able to produce more contextual and meaningful responses by remembering previous conversations. Amazon’s smart assistant is now compatible with a significantly increased number of advanced devices. It was emphasized at the event that Alexa+ can manage smart home devices and handle complex routines.

In addition, Alexa+ will be more advanced in the security and privacy department. The company stated that the new version will store user data more securely, allowing users to review and delete their data.

“YOUR VIRTUAL SECURITY GUARD” Furthermore, Alexa+ is claimed to be able to analyze images from compatible security cameras and explain what is happening in a certain scene. Panay’s statement, “It’s your virtual security guard,” demonstrates how confident he is in his smart assistant in this area.
