Iran – USA negotiations complete first round

The initial round of indirect nuclear deal negotiations between Tehran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Arakchi and Trump’s Middle East Special Envoy Witkoff took place in Oman. It was stated that the talks will continue next week.

Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Ismail Bekayi, in a message shared on X social media account, used the phrase “Indirect talks between Foreign Minister Abbas Arakchi and US President’s Middle East Special Envoy Steve Witkoff have begun under the mediation of Oman’s Foreign Minister Bedr el-Busaidi.” According to Bekayi, separate rooms were arranged for the Iranian and US delegations during the talks.

According to a written statement from the Iranian Foreign Ministry, the first round of talks between Iran and the USA, mediated by Oman, has concluded. The indirect talks conducted by delegations led by Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Arakchi and US Middle East Special Envoy Steve Witkoff were held in a “constructive atmosphere based on mutual respect.” The Iranian and US delegations also had a direct conversation for a few minutes. The parties agreed that the talks will continue next week.
