Iran’s Response to Trump’s Letter: Indirect Negotiation Signal

The response came from Iran to the nuclear negotiations that US President Donald Trump invited with threatening language. Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Arakchi announced that the official response to the letter Trump addressed to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has been delivered. Indicating a signal for indirect negotiations.

Speaking to the official Iranian news agency IRNA, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Arakchi announced that Iran’s response was sent through Oman.

Arakchi stated that detailed explanations were provided in Iran’s response to Trump’s letter, conveying Iran’s views on the current situation.

Arakchi emphasized that Iran will not engage in direct negotiations under maximum pressure and military threats, but that indirect negotiations, as in the past, may continue.

TRUMP’S CALL FOR NEGOTIATIONS AND THREATS TO IRAN
In an interview with Fox Business Network on March 7, US President Donald Trump revealed that he had sent a letter to Iranian leader Ali Khamenei. Trump stated, “I wrote a letter to them saying, ‘I hope you negotiate because if we have to go in militarily, it’s going to be a very sad day.'”

In a speech on March 8, Khamenei expressed that the US’s request for negotiations is not to resolve issues, but to impose its demands and establish domination, stating that Iran will not accept this. Iranian President Hassan Rouhani also said on March 11 regarding Trump’s threats, “I will not negotiate with you because of the threats you have made. Do whatever you want.”

Finally, it was reported in the international press that Iran is considering the offer to engage in indirect talks with the US through the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The two countries had previously conducted various levels of indirect talks through Oman.
