Israel Expands Occupation in Gaza: “Hunger and Desperation Spreading”

Israel announced that it is expanding its ground attacks in Gaza. The army stated that it has initiated efforts to expand the “buffer zone” in the Shuja’iyya region in the north. The Israeli army declared that it has extended its occupation in the northern Gaza Strip by breaking the ceasefire, issuing evacuation warnings forcing the Palestinian people to migrate, and intensifying its attacks. Israeli Army Spokesperson Avichay Adraee stated on social media that the Israeli army has expanded its ground attacks in Gaza. Adraee conveyed that the Israeli army has started working in the Shuja’iyya region in the north of Gaza to “deepen its control and expand the buffer zone.” Referring to the evacuation warning issued to the Palestinian people in the area, Adraee claimed that the Israeli army clashed with Hamas members in Shuja’iyya.
TARGETING TENTS, ISRAEL KILLS MOTHER AND CHILD
As a result of the Israeli army targeting the tent of displaced Palestinians in southern Gaza, a Palestinian woman and child lost their lives. The army attacked the tent where displaced Palestinians stayed west of the Kubbah Mosque in the Mevasi region of Khan Younis. The attack resulted in the death of a Palestinian woman and child, with many others injured. Israel also bombed the Gabayin seawater desalination plant in the Tuffah neighborhood in eastern Gaza, where there is a shortage of access to food and clean water. In Rafah city in the south of the Gaza Strip, two people lost their lives in an attack carried out by the Israeli army.
UN: ISRAEL USES FOOD AND AID AS WEAPONS
The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini made a statement on the situation in the Gaza Strip through his social media account. Lazzarini used the expression, “Gaza: Hunger and desperation spreading due to the use of food and aid as weapons.” Lazzarini stated, “Gaza has been under a total blockade for over a month. Israeli authorities continue to ban the entry of basic needs such as food, medicine, and fuel. This is collective punishment.” Lazzarini reported the presence of hunger, chaos, and looting in Gaza, emphasizing that due to the tight blockade imposed by Israel, civil order is beginning to deteriorate. Lazzarini drew attention to the fact that people in Gaza are extremely exhausted due to being trapped in a small area, and he used the phrase “Allow aid entry and lift the blockade.”
