The Media Office of the government in Gaza announced that Israel has killed 24 Palestinian female journalists since October 7th. Selame Maruf, the Head of the Media Office in Gaza, made a statement on International Women’s Day. Selame stated that 24 female journalists lost their lives in Israel’s attacks in Gaza, saying that being women did not save them from the cruel army, and even the immunity of journalism could not protect them from being made into killers. Selame noted that the act of the Israeli army in targeting Palestinian female journalists is a violation of international humanitarian law, claiming that it happened in the presence of the free world that allegedly defends women’s rights and journalists’ rights.
