Israeli Airstrike on Syria

In the Deraa province in southern Syria, multiple military sites were targeted in an airstrike carried out by Israeli warplanes. Information obtained from local sources reveals that Israeli planes attacked the 12th Brigade and 89th Regiment located in Jaba and Izra in the rural areas of Deraa province. It was reported that 17 airstrikes were conducted targeting military equipment.

ISRAELI ATTACKS AND OCCUPATION IN SYRIA Following the escalating conflicts in Syria on November 27, 2024, there was an increase in Israeli military attacks on the country simultaneous with the collapse of the 61-year-old Ba’ath regime on December 8. The Israeli army began destroying the remaining military infrastructure and capabilities of the regime, expanding its occupation in the Golan Heights of Syrian territory.

Entering the buffer zone near the Golan Heights, the Israeli army advanced its occupation further, coming close to the outskirts of the capital, Damascus, within 25 kilometers. Israel has been holding the Syrian Golan Heights under occupation since 1967. The boundaries of the buffer zone and the demilitarized zone were defined by the Disengagement of Forces Agreement signed between Israel and Syria in 1974.
