Israel’s New Target is the West Bank: “Tactics from Gaza are Being Implemented”

Due to the operations of the Israeli army in the West Bank, tens of thousands of people have been forced to leave their homes in recent weeks. This has been highlighted as the largest displacement since the Arab-Israeli War of 1967. Experts say that the Israeli army’s tactics in the West Bank have become similar to those in Gaza. The Israeli army, however, claims that it has not issued mass evacuation orders in the West Bank. The focus of the Israeli army is now on the West Bank after Gaza.

Two days after a ceasefire was reached in Gaza, extensive operations began in the West Bank on January 21. The initial target was the city of Jenin. Unlike previous operations, large-scale attacks were also carried out on towns near Jenin.

In recent weeks, tens of thousands of people in the West Bank have been forced to leave their homes. As families are displaced, it is noted that the events of Israel’s founding in 1948 are being relived in the memories of the Palestinians.

Experts say that the Israeli army’s tactics in the West Bank have become similar to those in Gaza. It is stated that U.S. President Donald Trump’s plan to remove Gazans has strengthened the calls of Israeli right-wing extremists for the annexation of the West Bank.

The Israeli army, however, claims that it has not issued mass evacuation orders in the West Bank. It is noted that safe passage is provided only to those who wish to leave.

However, Palestinians in the West Bank explain that they were forced to leave their homes not out of fear, but on the orders of the Israeli army. Palestinians report that soldiers sometimes point guns at them.

One Palestinian who was evicted from their home stated, “In Israeli army raids, the first thing soldiers do is destroy the infrastructure and terrorize and scare children and the elderly. They don’t ask for permission when entering a house. They blast the door open and enter. It doesn’t matter if someone is behind the door at that moment.” Those forced to leave their homes sought refuge in government buildings and mosques in different areas of the West Bank.

There have also been reports of abandoned homes being used by Israeli soldiers.
