Istanbul Airport is commencing simultaneous triple independent runway operations starting today. Turkey became the first country in Europe to implement this system.

The era of simultaneous triple independent runways at Istanbul Airport is beginning. With this system, 3 aircraft can take off and land at Istanbul Airport at the same time. While triple independent runway operations are being implemented in the US, Turkey became the first country in Europe to put this into practice.

Speaking at the Istanbul Airport Triple Runway Flight Operation Inauguration Ceremony, Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloglu stated that the implementation has lifted Turkey’s vision beyond its borders.

Uraloglu expressed that Istanbul Airport has ascended to the top tier of global aviation.

Minister Uraloglu mentioned that with triple independent runway operations, the traffic flow at Istanbul Airport will accelerate and its dynamic capacity will increase.

Istanbul Airport, situated as Europe’s busiest airport, saw an average of 1,326 flights per day from March 17th to March 23rd.
