Kremlin: US and Russian Officials to Meet in Saudi Arabia

The Foreign Ministers of the US and Russia will meet in the capital of Saudi Arabia, Riyadh, tomorrow. Initial statements came from Sergey Lavrov, who will meet with his US counterpart Marco Rubio. Russia announced that Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will participate in talks with US officials in Saudi Arabia to end the war that has been going on for about three years. This marks the first high-level face-to-face meeting between Russian and US officials in years. Lavrov, who commented on the matter, stated, “Putin and Trump want to end the mutual tension that negatively affects US-Russia relations. The two presidents agreed that dialogue between the two countries needs to be reinitiated.” Lavrov mentioned that during the establishment of the union, the Soviet government had made territorial concessions to the region now known as Ukraine, and clarified, “Russia has no intention of conceding territory to Ukraine in the planned negotiations.”
