Kremlin: US tariffs causing turbulence in global economies

The spokesperson for the Kremlin, Dmitriy Peskov, stated that the tariff policies of the US are leading to significant turbulence in the world economy, and he mentioned that it is unlikely this process will benefit Russia. Peskov remarked on the turbulence in the world economy due to the tariff policies of the US, saying that it is a low possibility for the US tariffs to benefit Russia. Peskov responded to questions from journalists in the capital Moscow on current issues. He indicated that Kiril Dmitriev, the special envoy of Russian President Vladimir Putin responsible for international economic cooperation, conducted an important visit to the US. Peskov mentioned that details about guaranteeing negotiations with Ukraine will not be shared at this stage. Evaluating the US’s increasingly tough stance towards Iran, Peskov said, “We are currently trying to restore our relations with the US, but Iran is still our partner and ally with deep-rooted relations.” Peskov noted that Russia is not among the countries affected by the tariffs announced by the US due to the absence of trade with the US. Describing the turbulence in the world due to tariffs, Peskov commented, “It is unlikely for the US tariffs to benefit Russia. The global economy is responding very emotionally to these decisions. We are witnessing a high level of turbulence in international markets, and of course, the world economy is currently in chaos.” Pointing out the strong and resilient state of the Russian economy, Peskov stated, “However, additional efforts will be needed due to the turbulence currently happening in the global economy.”
