Large Privatization Plan from Russia

The Russian Ministry of Finance has announced that they are working on a large privatization process, including companies that have been seized. Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov stated that they aim to start a significant privatization process in Russia, including companies seized as a result of court decisions. Speaking at an event in the capital Moscow, Siluanov said that they need to develop new strategies for development. Siluanov mentioned that they have conducted a study to identify assets that were ineffective last year and stated, “We will prepare a proposal for a major privatization process. We believe that we are in a good time to address privatization in 2025.” Siluanov also discussed companies seized by court order, stating, “We aim to generate around 100 billion rubles (approximately 1.2 billion dollars) from the sale of these companies.” In Russia, receivers were appointed to Western companies such as Danone and Carlsberg in response to sanctions.
