Lebanon’s new cabinet announced

In Lebanon, the two-year political deadlock ended with the election of Jozef Avn as president. Nuvvaf Salam, who was tasked with forming the government on January 13, has now determined his cabinet. The president approved the 24 ministers. The final step for the government to be officially formed is to receive a vote of confidence from the parliament. The cabinet that will be involved in the administration after the end of the political crisis in Lebanon has been announced. The announcement regarding the cabinet was made by the Lebanese Presidency. It was noted that the resignation of acting Prime Minister Necib Mikati had been accepted by President Jozef Avn. President Avn also approved the decree concerning the formation of a government consisting of 24 ministers along with Nuvvaf Salam. Avn stated that the new cabinet will serve all Lebanese people. Prime Minister Salam, on the other hand, mentioned that the new government will try to establish trust between the citizens and the state. He added that the trust of Arab countries and the international community will also be considered. For Nuvvaf Salam’s cabinet to officially start its duty, it needs to receive a vote of confidence from the parliament. After more than two years of a vacuum and political crisis in the country, Jozef Avn was elected as Lebanon’s 14th President on January 9, while Nuvvaf Salam, who was serving as the President of the International Court of Justice, was appointed to form the new government on January 13.
