Market Volatility: Stock Market Falls, Record Highs for Dollar and Euro

There has been an increase in market volatility. The stock market lost over 5% of its value. The dollar surpassed 41 lira, while the euro exceeded 45 lira, setting new records. Meanwhile, gram gold reached its peak at 4,000 lira.
At Borsa Istanbul, the BIST 100 index started the day at 10,060 points with a 6.87% decrease. Following the sharp drop in the index, the circuit breaker system was triggered at 9:55, temporarily halting trading. Upon resumption of trading, the index is still trading over 5% lower. The banking index incurred a 7.02% decrease, while the holding index saw a 6.69% loss. All sector indices declined with the communication sector leading with a 7.56% drop. Analysts noted that from a technical standpoint, the support levels for the BIST 100 index are at 10,000 and 9,900 points, with resistance levels at 10,100 and 10,200 points. The RISE IN DOLLAR AND EURO ACCELERATES The Turkish Lira/US Dollar exchange rate surged over 10%, breaking the 40 mark. The Euro/Turkish Lira rate also surpassed 45. Additionally, the British Pound/Turkish Lira rate tested above the 50 level. GRAM GOLD AT 4,000 LIRA Due to the increase in the dollar and ounce prices, gram gold hit a new record. For the first time in history, gram gold exceeded 4,000 lira.
