Meloni Washington traveler: Tax negotiations begin

Italian Prime Minister Meloni announced that she will travel to Washington on April 17 to discuss the high customs tariffs announced by Trump.
Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni revealed that she will visit Washington next week to engage in discussions with US President Donald Trump regarding the new customs tariffs. Meloni mentioned that they are planning to restructure up to 25 billion euros from existing EU funds to mitigate the impact of Trump’s extensive new taxes. Emphasizing her support for finding a solution to the crisis through negotiations led by the EU, Meloni stated, “This is a negotiation that we all should be involved in at every level. Therefore, I will also be in Washington on April 17 and, of course, I plan to address this issue with the President of the United States.” Leader of Italy’s far-right Brothers of Italy (Fratelli d’Italia) party, Meloni was the only EU leader invited to Trump’s inauguration in January and maintains a determined stance on continuing relations with the Trump administration. THE WHITE HOUSE SAYS APPROXIMATELY 70 COUNTRIES WANT TO NEGOTIATE
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt also stated that approximately 70 countries expressed their interest in negotiating after Trump’s announcement of customs tariffs: “Since the Declaration of Independence, approximately 70 countries have reached out to the president to start negotiations. Countries are competing with each other to correct unfair trading practices and open their markets to our country.”
