Minister Fidan: Security Architecture Without Turkey is Impossible

Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan met with Albanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Hasani. Minister Fidan spoke at a joint press conference with Hasani. Fidan stated that files on Israel’s crimes have been prepared and will be presented at the International Court of Justice. He also mentioned, “Intense negotiations are ongoing to end the war. Hopefully, a ceasefire will be reached in Ukraine. If a new European security architecture is to be formed, it is impossible for it to be without Turkey.”
Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan met with Albanian Minister of European and Foreign Affairs Igli Hasani in Ankara. Minister Fidan, who held a joint press conference with Hasani, said: “The war between Russia and Ukraine was on our agenda. We are working towards ending the war permanently and fairly through negotiations. It is crucial for the ceasefire in Gaza to become permanent. We have prepared a file as Turkey and presented it to the International Court of Justice. In our file, we informed that we are supporters of Palestine, seeking justice for the crimes committed by Israel.”
“INTENSE EXCHANGE OF VIEWS”
Emphasizing that the talks are continuing at a rapid pace, Fidan stated, “The visits of Mr. Zelensky and Lavrov here and our other contacts have created an intense exchange of views. The views and policies of the new administration in the U.S. regarding the war in Ukraine are diametrically opposed to those of the previous administration.”
“REQUEST FOR SECURITY GUARANTEES BY UKRAINIANS”
Touching upon the recent U.S.-Ukraine talks, Fidan said, “We understand that they are trying to build a basis for an agreement on the repayment of the expenses incurred in Ukraine. We believe that such an agreement will come into effect during the Washington visit of Zelensky on Friday. Ukrainians have concrete military support and guarantee requests under the guise of security guarantees from the Americans.”
“SECURITY ARCHITECTURE WITHOUT TURKEY IS IMPOSSIBLE”
Fidan concluded his speech with the following remarks:
“While security guarantees are being discussed among Ukraine’s demands, we will see the stance the Americans take on this. We also see European leaders discussing how a security architecture will be formed without NATO if Europe is not involved. It is crucial to underline that a security architecture cannot be formed without Turkey. Furthermore, discussions on a security architecture without the U.S. are ongoing. We will witness all of these in the coming days.”
