Minister Uraloğlu: Ongoing work at Damascus Airport

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu noted that they have completed the installation of air-ground radio systems at the Damascus Airport. Uraloğlu stated, “We have started using communication systems in Damascus Tower.”
Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu expressed that they continue their efforts to revive the Damascus Airport, which suffered damage during the 13-year Syrian Civil War. Providing information about the ongoing work in Syria, Minister Uraloğlu mentioned that the installation of air navigation devices and security systems sent from Turkey continues, and as of February 20th, the first technical team completed their tasks and handed over the delivery processes. Uraloğlu also mentioned that on February 21st, a new team of 23 DHMI personnel arrived at the Damascus Airport to take over the tasks and began working.
“WE INSTALLED TWO NEW RADIO SYSTEMS”
Uraloğlu emphasized that Turkey provides support in all critical areas from air navigation systems to security infrastructure.
Highlighting that the control mechanisms of the Damascus Airport were greatly damaged, Uraloğlu said, “To enhance flight safety in the first phase, we installed two new receiver-transmitter radio systems. We are conducting the maintenance and repair of navigation devices.”
“WE ARE REPAIRING FAULTY SYSTEMS” Uraloğlu stressed that security is one of the top priorities at the Damascus Airport, stating that the security level of the airport has been raised with the equipment sent by Turkey.
Mentioning that devices such as X-Ray and explosive trace detectors were among the delivered equipment, Minister Uraloğlu also stated that Turkish engineers and technicians have put in intense work in the field to restore the airport infrastructure to operational status.
Uraloğlu stated, “We are reviewing the existing systems at the airport and repairing the faulty ones.” COMMUNICATION SYSTEMS PUT INTO OPERATION Minister Uraloğlu indicated that the integration of radio systems in the Damascus Tower with voice recording devices has been completed as part of the work carried out at the airport.
He also mentioned that they repaired the inactive NDB (Non-Directional Radio Beacon) device and made it operational again, saying, “We have completed the installation of air-ground radio systems. Communication systems have been tested and are now being used in the Damascus Tower.” Uraloğlu announced that they have repaired and put into service 3 airport rescue and firefighting vehicles.
