Ministry Conducts Audits on Revenues! Revenue Inspections Have Commenced

The Ministry has started revenue determinations in various sectors, especially focusing on restaurants. It has been reported that tax officials are sitting at the cash registers of businesses, meticulously checking Z reports and receipts. If the difference between revenue and income exceeds 20%, taxpayers will be summoned for explanation.
Ministry teams have initiated revenue determinations in many sectors. Finance and Treasury Minister Mehmet Şimşek had announced that they would determine daily revenues by sitting at the businesses’ cash registers.
Şimşek had stated that if the difference between revenue and reported income exceeds 20%, they will invite the taxpayer for an explanation. This regulation officially came into effect as of January 1, 2025. AUDITS BEGIN WITH RESTAURANTS According to a report in the Economy Newspaper, the Revenue Administration Presidency sent a letter to the tax offices of all 81 provinces, requesting mass revenue and inspection work to be carried out on taxpayers from February 3rd to July 31st. It is stated that tax officials from the Ministry have started revenue inspections in various sectors, especially restaurants. Initially, audits are said to have begun in dining establishments. Audit officers sitting at the businesses’ cash registers are requesting Z reports while also determining the daily revenues. PAY ATTENTION TO THE 20% DIFFERENCE! For the determination of daily revenues of taxpayers, there will be three inspections in a month and a total of 12 inspections in a calendar year. The monthly revenues will be calculated from the revenues identified during the inspections. By dividing the total monthly revenues by the number of months in which inspections were conducted, the monthly average revenue amount will be determined. The total annual revenue will be calculated by multiplying the monthly average revenue by the number of months the business operates. If the difference between this figure and the reported amount exceeds 20%, the taxpayer will be invited for an explanation.
THEY CANNOT BENEFIT FROM REMORSE Experts indicate that businesses invited for an explanation will not be able to benefit from remorse and late fees will be applied for each unpaid penalty.
