Following a mild winter in the Russian capital Moscow, snow made its appearance. The capital turned white overnight due to the snowfall.

The snow depth reached 10 centimeters in Red Square. Temperatures, which rose to 16 degrees on Friday, dropped below freezing, with weather forecasters predicting snowfall today and tomorrow throughout the winter season.

Moscow transportation authorities warned drivers who had changed to winter tires not to venture out onto the roads.
