MÜSİAD responds to boycott calls

The Independent Industrialists’ and Businessmen’s Association (MÜSİAD) stated that the opposition’s boycott calls aimed to reverse the gains of the Turkish economy, and as representatives of the real sector, they sadly opposed such calls. In a statement by MÜSİAD, it was noted that in recent years, the Turkish economy has gained great momentum with its strong production capacity, export-oriented growth model, and innovative ventures, resisting global fluctuations thanks to the determined efforts of local brands. The statement highlighted that national brands have achieved a stronger position on the international stage, and the economy has shown uninterrupted positive growth performance for the last 18 quarters. The statement expressed concern saying, “Especially considering the critical effect of domestic consumption on growth, boycott calls against our local brands aim to reverse the gains achieved by the Turkish economy in many challenging conditions, negatively affecting production and employment. At a time when our country’s technological, economic, and historical advantages stand out, and there is a determined struggle to permanently reduce inflation, we, as representatives of the real sector, sadly respond to statements that would damage economic gains with calls of this nature.” The statement highlighted that boycott calls against companies contributing value, creating employment, and promoting domestic production do not align with the national interests, emphasizing that the business world should be kept separate from political debates, and all stakeholders should act with shared wisdom for the country’s prosperity. It was mentioned that now is the time to increase our competitiveness in the global economy, promote domestic production, support sustainable growth, and employment. It was stressed in the statement that we should stand by our local brands and continue working together for the strengthening of the Turkish economy.
