Musk and OpenAI Reach Agreement: Legal Process Speeding Up

Elon Musk and OpenAI have reached an agreement to expedite the profit motive lawsuit. Both parties have taken the first step towards a joint hearing.

Elon Musk and OpenAI agreed to expedite the lawsuit regarding the artificial intelligence company’s shift to a profit-driven structure. In a joint application to the court, the parties requested a joint hearing. The decision on whether the case will be heard by a jury or solely by a judge has been postponed to a later date. The court had previously denied Musk’s request to halt OpenAI’s transition to a profit-driven model in March. A statement from OpenAI expressed satisfaction with the court’s decision on March 4 to reject Elon Musk’s attempt to slow down OpenAI for personal gain. Musk had filed a lawsuit claiming that OpenAI had abandoned its mission of developing beneficial artificial intelligence for humanity without seeking profits and had violated the company’s founding agreement. OpenAI had published a series of emails and messages supporting the notion that Musk had endorsed a profit-driven structure for his AI venture in 2017.

Musk had offered $97 billion to acquire OpenAI, but the offer was rebuffed.
