National Security Council established in Syria

In order to strengthen security after the recent clashes in Syria, a critical step has been taken. The Damascus government announced the establishment of the National Security Council. According to a statement from the Syrian Presidency, as part of efforts to ensure security in the country, the National Security Council has been established under the leadership of the President, responsible for coordinating security and political policies. The Council will consist of the Foreign, Defense, and Interior Ministers, the General Intelligence Director, as well as 2 advisors and 1 technical expert appointed by the President. Meetings will be held regularly upon the President’s invitation and when deemed necessary.
