New electric car coming from China

Chinese automaker SAIC Motor has partnered with Huawei to develop smart electric vehicles that will compete on a global level. Technology giant Huawei announced a strategic partnership with SAIC Motor, one of China’s largest automotive manufacturers, to produce next-generation smart electric vehicles. Huawei, which has made significant investments in smart driving technologies, is increasing its collaborations with state-supported automakers. China is encouraging its major companies to work together to enhance the country’s global competitiveness in the automotive sector. Huawei’s impact is already being felt as the technology giant has helped various companies with smart vehicle software and hardware, achieving great success with the electric vehicle Avatr developed in partnership with Changan. Avatr brand vehicles doubled their sales in 2024 compared to the previous period. In the announcement about the agreement, SAIC Motor stated that the strategic collaboration between SAIC and Huawei will further enhance their advantages and take China’s automotive industry to a new level in the smart era. According to Reuters, SAIC saw a 20% decline in vehicle sales last year. The company aims to increase its market share again with vehicles produced in partnership with Huawei. Reports in Chinese media indicate that Huawei and SAIC will introduce their vehicle under the “Shangjie” brand. Industry leaks suggest that the vehicle, planned for release in the last quarter of 2025, will be sold at a price of 20,000 euros.
