The regulation will come into effect on December 31, 2026. In water bills, environmental cleaning tax, solid waste collection fee, and waste disposal fee will be collected at once. The aim of the new system is to prevent water wastage and reduce environmental damage.

“PAY MORE FOR POLLUTING MORE” President of the Turkey Waste Management and Energy from Waste Association, Ali Rıza Öner, emphasized the need to align water bills with the national standard like electricity and natural gas bills. Öner stated that the “pay more for polluting more” method is appropriate and highlighted, “This system also exists in Europe.”
