New Lead on Missing British Journalist after 11 Days

Brazilian police have reported that the phone of 32-year-old journalist Charlotte Peet, missing since February 8th, is still active. Peet stated that she traveled from Sao Paulo to Rio de Janeiro, prompting the Foreign Correspondents Association in Brazil to call for authorities to intensify search efforts.

Charlotte Alice Peet, who works as an independent journalist for media outlets such as Independent, Times, Telegraph, and Al Jazeera, has been unreachable since February 8th.

The Foreign Correspondents Association in Brazil announced that the British journalist has been missing for 11 days, urging officials to step up search efforts. As the search continues, there has been a new development regarding the 32-year-old journalist. Brazilian police revealed that Peet’s phone is still active. She was reported missing by a friend on February 8th, who received a message from Peet saying she was in São Paulo but heading towards Rio de Janeiro, 200 miles to the north, in search of a place to stay.

Peet’s father Derek expressed that he is “very worried,” stating, “I can’t say this is normal, there must have been something on her mind, otherwise she would have informed us.” It is noted that Peet speaks Portuguese fluently and has been living in Brazil recently. She is known to have worked as an independent journalist for media organizations like Independent, Times, Telegraph, and Al Jazeera. The Foreign Correspondents Association in Brazil called for intensified efforts to locate the British journalist as soon as possible. The British Embassy in Brazil has also stated that they are supporting Peet’s family and are in touch with local authorities.
