New season starting in Formula 1

Excitement for the new season in Formula 1 is rising. The 2025 Formula 1 World Championship will feature 24 races in 21 countries across 5 continents.

The 2025 season in Formula 1 will kick off on March 16th in Australia and conclude on December 7th in Abu Dhabi. Due to Ramadan, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia’s Grand Prix races have been scheduled for April. The 24 races planned for 2024 set a record in F1 history, and this season, pilots will once again compete in 24 races. In 2023, despite planning for 23 races, only 22 were held. LEWIS HAMILTON MOVES TO FERRARI Seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton has transferred to the Italian team Ferrari. His move to Ferrari, replacing Carlos Sainz who joined Williams, ranks among the greatest F1 transfers of all time. Sharing the most world championship titles in Formula 1 history with Michael Schumacher, Hamilton previously raced for McLaren and Mercedes.

In the previous season, Hamilton finished 7th in the driver standings with 223 points. Ferrari, on the other hand, secured 2nd place in the teams’ standings with 652 points. ONLY MCLAREN AND ASTON MARTIN RETAIN DRIVERS While only McLaren and Aston Martin retained their drivers for this season, Carlos Sainz, departing from Ferrari, joined the Williams team. British driver Oliver Bearman will race for Haas alongside Esteban Ocon, who left Alpine. Jack Doohan from Australia filled in for Ocon at Alpine. Isack Hadjar and Yuki Tsunoda joined Racing Bulls, while Nico Hulkenberg and Gabriel Bortoleto form Sauber’s new driver pairing. VERSTAPPEN CHASING 5TH TITLE Max Verstappen, the reigning world champion for the past 4 seasons, will strive for his 5th consecutive championship in the 2025 season. The 27-year-old Dutch pilot, who won 9 out of 24 races last season, led with a total of 437 points, with his closest competitor Lando Norris (McLaren) in second place with 374 points.

6 SPRINT RACES TO BE HELD It has been announced that the 2025 Formula 1 World Championship will feature 6 sprint races. This year, sprint races will be held at the China, Miami, Brazil, USA, Belgium, and Qatar Grand Prix events. The number of sprint races, which was initially 3 in 2021, was increased to 6 in 2023.
