No Passage for Smuggling at Customs

Based on reports from citizens, the Ministry of Trade seized goods worth a total of 75.5 million Turkish Liras at customs last year.
There was no tolerance for smuggling thanks to reports from citizens.
According to the compilation made by the Ministry of Trade, the report line operates to support citizens in the fight against smuggling. The report line operates on a 24/7 basis, and the staff there promptly transmit any information deemed as a report to relevant local or central units.
Within this scope, reports related to all types of smuggling activities via air, land, and sea are received.
With reports amounting to 75.5 million Turkish Liras last year, the Ministry made 197 seizures, with the total value of seized goods amounting to 75.5 million Turkish Liras, and an administrative fine of 1.6 million Turkish Liras imposed. In addition to the ALO 136 Customs Protection Report Line, 4,261 applications were received from email, the Presidential Communication Center (CİMER), the Ministry’s website, and other sources. As a result of these applications, the total value of seized goods reached 1 billion 566 million 235 thousand 557 Turkish Liras. Through intelligence operations conducted nationally and internationally, there was a 470% increase in seizures in 2024 compared to the previous year, with goods worth a total of 1.8 billion Turkish Liras seized and an administrative fine of 84 million 143 thousand 456 Turkish Liras imposed.
