No Tolerance for Exorbitant Prices: Heavy Fines for Pirate Transport

During the holiday period, businesses engaged in exorbitant pricing and pirate transport were fined 37,400,120 lira.
Inspections continued throughout the Ramadan holiday.
Transport and Infrastructure Minister Abdulkadir Uraloğlu reported that inspections to prevent exorbitant ticket sales on intercity buses during the Ramadan holiday were carried out continuously. Emphasizing that operators who did not comply with the tariff fees reported to the ministry were individually scrutinized and subjected to necessary administrative fines, Uraloğlu stated, “Ministry teams and law enforcement agencies collaborated on these efforts. In addition to electronic inspections, inspections were conducted at passenger terminals, roadside locations, and highway inspection stations. Before and during the holiday, we monitored 2,377 businesses and 63,113 bus trips between cities.”
“37,400,120 Lira Fine” Uraloğlu pointed out the high traffic volume on intercity bus trips during the Ramadan holiday, stating, “March 10 to April 6, 8,347 measures resulted in fines of 37,400,120 lira for bus companies.” Highlighting that ministry inspections are not limited to holiday periods, Uraloğlu noted that bus inspections nationwide continue effectively to prevent exorbitant ticket sales and ensure order in passenger transport.
