Following the docking of an American nuclear submarine at a South Korean port, the North Korean regime under the leadership of Kim Jong Un accused the US of posing a serious threat to its national security. In response to a fast-attack nuclear submarine belonging to the US Navy docking at a port in Busan, South Korea, North Korea announced that its military forces are prepared to take all necessary measures. According to the state-operated KCNA news agency in North Korea under the leadership of Kim Jong Un, the country’s Defense Ministry accused the US of posing a serious threat to its national security. The statement mentioned that the presence of a US nuclear submarine on the Korean Peninsula is “a clear expression of the unchanging conflict hysteria of the US” and expressed serious concerns about the dangerous hostile military action that could lead to a real armed conflict in the region surrounding the Korean Peninsula.

The Ministry, while stating that North Korea will use its legitimate right without hesitation to punish the provocateurs, accused the US of being a hegemonic entity that blindly believes in coercion. According to the South Korean Defense Ministry, the USS Alexandria submarine docked at Busan port yesterday for replenishment and crew rest. The Ministry also added that this break would provide an opportunity for information exchange between the South Korean and US navies and create a united defense posture. The USS Alexandria, part of the US Pacific Fleet, is known as a nuclear-powered fast-attack submarine equipped with Tomahawk cruise missiles. Pyongyang alleges that joint military activities between the US and South Korea pose a threat to peace on the Korean Peninsula and views these activities as invasion rehearsals. On Sunday, after a series of exercises conducted by US and South Korean allies just 25.7 kilometers from the North Korean border, North Korea issued a warning about “undesirable consequences.”
