OpenAI secures $40 billion investment

Artificial intelligence company OpenAI has raised $40 billion in funding based on a valuation of $300 billion. Reports indicate that the U.S.-based AI company OpenAI secured $40 billion in funding with a valuation of $300 billion. According to a statement from OpenAI, the developer of the AI tool ChatGPT, the company has raised $40 billion in new funding with a valuation of $300 billion to further advance artificial intelligence (AI). This doubles the value of the previous financing round held in October 2024, where OpenAI had a valuation of $157 billion and raised $6.6 billion. Additionally, the $40 billion in new funding marks the largest private technology financing round on record. With a valuation of $300 billion, OpenAI has joined the ranks of the world’s highest-valued private companies. Reports in the U.S. media indicate that the venture capital firm SoftBank led the financing round, with Microsoft, asset managers Coatue, Altimeter, and Thrive also participating as investors. OpenAI, which competes with numerous companies in the field of artificial intelligence, particularly in the U.S. and China for technological leadership, will also join the $500 billion private sector investment project named “Stargate” on January 22 to enhance its AI infrastructure.
