Operation “Change” in 18 provinces: 9 individuals arrested

In an operation targeting “change” vehicles in 18 provinces led by Samsun, 9 individuals were arrested. Another 10 individuals were released under judicial supervision.
During the operation conducted by Samsun Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office and Samsun Security Directorate Department of Public Order, it was determined that a total of 15 trucks, 6 trailers, and 2 cars with altered engine and chassis numbers and original features, imported from Romania as smuggled goods and evaluated at a market value of 50 million TL, were sold through altering them via “change” for the crimes of “aggravated fraud, forgery of official documents, and smuggling.”
On 8th April, Tuesday morning, simultaneous operations were carried out in Samsun, Istanbul, Konya, Izmir, Eskisehir, Sakarya, Mersin, Manisa, Mardin, Sirnak, Amasya, Isparta, Burdur, Corum, Erzurum, Antalya, Edirne, and Kirsehir provinces under the codename “Satir” to capture the 50 suspects targeted for detention. Special operations teams supported the operations, resulting in the detention of 50 suspects.
Following the interrogations at Samsun Security Directorate, 20 suspects were released after their statements, while 30 suspects were referred to the courthouse. 11 individuals were released by the prosecutor, and 19 were referred to the duty court for possible arrest.
After giving their statements to the duty court, 9 individuals were arrested and sent to prison, while 10 others were released under judicial supervision.
