Palestinian activist deported despite green card in the US

The decision to deport Palestinian activist Mahmoud Halil, who was detained for leading support protests for Palestine in the United States, has been made by Judge Jamee Comans, who handles immigration cases in the US.
According to AA, this decision could impact many international students in similar situations.
Halil’s lawyers have been given until April 23 to halt the deportation order. It was stated that after this period, Halil will be sent to Syria or Algeria.
Being a green card holder and married to an American citizen, Halil, in his statement after the trial, said, “I would like to quote what you said last time: There is nothing more important for this court than the right to a fair trial and basic justice. What we are witnessing today clearly shows that none of these principles have been applied throughout this entire process.”
Halil mentioned that the reason for the Trump administration bringing him to a court more than 1.5 kilometers away from his family was exactly this, stating, “I hope that this urgency given to me will also be given to the hundreds of people waiting for trials for months.”
