The spiritual leader of Catholics, 88-year-old Pope Francis, has not been out of the spotlight lately due to various health problems. The Pope was hospitalized on Friday for bronchitis treatment. Having had part of one lung removed in his youth, the Pope will also miss the traditional Sunday mass due to ongoing health issues.
According to Italy’s ANSA news agency, Pope Francis, the spiritual leader of Catholics, is undergoing treatment for a respiratory tract infection.
As reported by the news agency, the Pope had another peaceful night in the hospital.
WILL NOT ATTEND SUNDAY MASS According to a statement by the Vatican on Saturday, the 88-year-old Pope will not appear in front of the public for the weekly Sunday mass due to the need for rest.
The Pope has been battling bronchitis for over a week now. The Catholic leader was admitted to Gemelli Hospital in Rome on Friday morning.
HEALTH ISSUES IN THE SPOTLIGHT
Having had part of one lung removed in his youth, the Pope has experienced numerous health issues in recent months, including prolonged bronchitis episodes.
In December, the Pope injured his chin in a fall, and last month, he injured his right arm in a similar incident.
