Passenger Number Transported by Air Exceeds 30 Million in 2 Months

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Uraloğlu disclosed that 30,457,920 passengers traveled by air in two months. Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu evaluated the air, passenger, and cargo data for the month of February from the State Airports Authority (DHMİ). Uraloğlu pointed out that the number of aircraft taking off and landing at passenger and environmentally friendly airports was 58,345 for domestic flights and 50,397 for international flights. This resulted in a total aircraft traffic of 148,633, including overflights. Uraloğlu stated that in February, there were 6,435,916 domestic flight passengers and 7,792,684 international flight passengers, totaling 14,234,345 passengers traveling by air, including direct transit passengers. He mentioned that during this month, 60,072 tons of cargo were transported domestically, and 269,067 tons internationally, reaching a total of 329,139 tons of cargo transported. Uraloğlu emphasized that during the January-February period, there were 130,862 domestic flight aircraft and 108,690 international flight aircraft, totaling 323,986 aircraft traffic including overflights. He continued by stating: “During this period, a total of 13,977,241 domestic flight passengers and 16,469,602 international flight passengers were served at airports nationwide, reaching a total of 30,457,920 passengers during these two months. The cargo traffic at airports during this period was 128,885 tons domestically and 565,843 tons internationally, totaling 694,727 tons.” ISTANBUL AIRPORT SERVED 5.7 MILLION PASSENGERS Uraloğlu reported that the aircraft traffic at Istanbul Airport, one of Turkey’s mega projects, reached 36,824 in February with 7,615 domestic flights and 29,209 international flights, serving 1,085,129 domestic passengers and 4,606,896 international passengers, totaling 5,692,025 passengers at this airport. Uraloğlu also noted that there were 16,618 domestic flights and 63,127 international flights at this airport during the January-February period, resulting in 79,745 flight traffic. He mentioned that there were 2,318,780 domestic flight passengers and 9,807,815 international flight passengers, totaling 12,126,595 passengers. Uraloğlu further stated that passenger traffic at Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport reached 3,222,336 with 1,283,770 domestic passengers and 1,938,566 international passengers, while the aircraft traffic reached 18,259 with 7,181 domestic flights and 11,078 international flights. Pointing out that there were 39,983 flights at Sabiha Gökçen Airport during the two-month period, Uraloğlu indicated that the airport served 6,889,838 passengers with 2,863,078 domestic passengers and 4,026,760 international passengers. Uraloğlu also mentioned that the aircraft traffic at Istanbul Atatürk Airport was 1,901 for that month and 4,182 for the two-month period. TOURIST DESTINATIONS CLOSE TO 4 MILLION Uraloğlu stated that the number of passengers served at airports in tourist destinations reached 3,950,528 in two months, with 2,416,704 domestic passengers and 1,533,824 international passengers. He noted that there were 32,389 flight traffic with 21,042 domestic flights and 11,347 international flights. Uraloğlu reported: “During these two months, 1,590,906 passengers were served at İzmir Adnan Menderes Airport, 1,948,453 at Antalya Airport, and 151,588 at Muğla Dalaman Airport. At Muğla Milas-Bodrum Airport, 188,569 passengers were served, while at Gazipaşa Alanya Airport, there were 71,012 passengers.”
