Passengers phone drop leads to emergency landing of plane
In France, a plane made an emergency landing after a passenger’s phone fell into the cargo compartment.
A Boeing 777-300ER aircraft taking off from Paris to Fort-de-France decided to return to Paris about 40 minutes after the flight began. According to reports, a female passenger on the plane dropped her phone, which passed through the floor grating and reached the cargo compartment.
CONSIDERATION OF POSSIBLE DAMAGE TO LITHIUM BATTERY
Considering the possibility of damage to the lithium battery during the phone’s fall, a decision was made for an emergency landing as a precaution against the risk of fire. The plane landed safely in Paris. After maintenance crews found the dropped phone, the plane took off again.
