“Phenomenon” Causes Stir in Country of the Minister

The approach of US Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem in managing the ministry with a “made-for-TV” attitude is disturbing some Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials.
According to The Wall Street Journal, individuals familiar with the raid referenced revealed that Noem jeopardized a January ICE raid in New York by sharing updates on social media while the operation was ongoing.
Those in the know about the raid claimed that her posts “undermined the element of surprise.” Department’s top spokesperson Tricia McLaughlin stated in an interview with the newspaper that when Noem posted on social media, the raid was almost over.
Nonetheless, it is alleged that the raid resulted in fewer arrests than planned.
Under Noem’s leadership, the ministry is central to the promotion of President Donald Trump’s comprehensive anti-immigration agenda.
The ministry under Noem’s management allocated 200 million dollars for an ad campaign urging undocumented immigrants in the country to “leave now” and posed in front of prisoners in El Salvador’s maximum-security prison and behind the controls of a Coast Guard plane. The photos of Noem on horseback with a cowboy hat on are also reportedly displayed in various offices of the ministry.
According to the newspaper, Noem also organized an event on her first day in office to introduce herself to the department and took the stage to Trace Adkins’ song “Hot Mama.” Despite some grumblings from employees, the strategy of placing Noem at the forefront and center of the anti-immigration initiative seems to be effective.
McLaughlin stated, “The world hears Secretary Noem’s message loud and clear: The border is the safest in American history and encounters at the border are at record lows. Criminal aliens are kept out, and immigrants are turning back before reaching our borders.”
Awkwardly, Noem became the subject of ridicule last week for posing with her rifle pointed at an officer in a video she shared on social media.
In a 20-second video posted last Tuesday, Noem stood between two Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers and aimed her gun. Social media users filled the comments section of Noem’s clip with warnings about the dangers of holding a gun in that manner.
