In Honduras’ Roatan Island, a plane taking off crashed into the water seconds later. As a result of the accident, 6 people lost their lives. Initial reports indicate that a small plane carrying 17 people crashed into the sea in the Central American country of Honduras. Governor Hugo Varela of Roatan stated to journalists that the plane took off from Juan Manuel Galvez Airport en route to the city of Trujillo, but shortly after, it crashed into the waters off Roatan Island. Varela mentioned that so far, search and rescue teams have recovered the lifeless bodies of 6 individuals and that the teams are continuing their efforts. According to local reports, the plane caught fire after crashing into the water, making the search and rescue operations more challenging.
