President Erdogan Engages in Diplomacy in Antalya

The Antalya Diplomacy Forum, which President Erdogan is attending, has commenced in Belek. During the summit, Erdogan met with Azerbaijani President Aliyev, Montenegrin President Milatović, and Kosovar President Osmani-Sadriu. Syrian leader Ahmed Şara will also participate in the summit.

Antalya, which hosts millions of tourists every year, is experiencing a diplomatic traffic this weekend.

Having previously hosted important events like G20 and NATO summits, the city is now hosting the Diplomacy Forum for the fourth time.

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan held separate meetings at the summit with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, Montenegrin President Jakov Milatović, and Kosovar President Vjosa Osmani-Sadriu.

BILATERAL RELATIONS AND REGIONAL AND GLOBAL ISSUES DISCUSSED

According to a statement from the Presidency’s Directorate of Communications, “Our President Recep Tayyip Erdogan had a meeting with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, who is in Turkey for the Antalya Diplomacy Forum. Turkish-Azerbaijani bilateral relations, as well as regional and global issues, were addressed during the meeting.”

The statement also shared the following information:

“President Erdogan emphasized that Turkey and Azerbaijan will continue to take steps to enhance cooperation in many areas, including energy, transportation, and defense industry.

Our President stated that he finds the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia satisfactory, expressed Turkey’s desire to see Azerbaijan as the architect of peace in South Caucasus, and mentioned that Turkey is also carefully pursuing the normalization process with Armenia.”

MEETINGS WITH LEADERS OF MONTENEGRO, KOSOVO, AND LIBYA President Erdogan also held separate meetings with Montenegrin President Jakov Milatović, Kosovar President Vjosa Osmani-Sadriu, and Libyan Prime Minister Abdulhamid Dibeybe on the sidelines of the summit. In a statement from the Directorate of Communications regarding the meeting with Milatović, it was mentioned that “Turkish-Montenegrin bilateral relations, and regional and global issues were discussed. President Erdogan noted that taking mutual new steps for enhancing cooperation between Turkey and Montenegro would be beneficial, with an initial aim to increase trade volume.”

Erdogan had a closed-door meeting with Libyan Prime Minister Dibeybe.

SECOND VISIT TO TURKEY FOR ŞARA Syrian President Ahmed Şara will also attend the summit in Antalya.

AK Party Deputy Chairman and Party Spokesperson Ömer Çelik previously stated, “Syrian President Şara will arrive in Turkey on Friday. He will be in Turkey within the framework of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum.”

Şara had visited Turkey last February.
