Prisoner Crisis Resolved: Hamas Declares Commitment to Ceasefire

The exchange crisis between Israel and Hamas is being resolved. A statement of commitment to the agreement has been issued by Hamas. In light of the commitment from the intermediary countries, it has been reported that the implementation of the agreement, including the prisoner exchange, will continue. Israel is said to have sent a message to Hamas through the intermediaries. Under these conditions, it is expected that Hamas will release three hostages on Saturday.

The crisis, which brought the ceasefire agreement that silenced the weapons in Gaza to the brink of collapse, has been resolved. The messages indicating the collapse of the agreement, which includes the ceasefire and exchange, given earlier this week have now been replaced by a positive atmosphere. A statement of commitment to the agreement was issued by Hamas. The statement emphasized that the intermediary countries Egypt and Qatar were working to eliminate the gaps in the Gaza agreement and pledged to remove obstacles. Accordingly, it was stated that the agreement would continue to be implemented, following the specified timeline including the prisoner exchange. According to the Israeli media, Israel sent a message to Hamas through Egypt and Qatar.

HAMAS WILL RETURN THREE HOSTAGES
It was communicated that the agreement will continue if Hamas releases three more hostages on Saturday. Hamas announced earlier this week that the release of the hostages had been suspended due to Israel’s violation of the agreement. Since then, intermediary countries have been racing against time to save the fragile agreement in Gaza. The Hamas delegation in Cairo held meetings with officials responsible for the negotiation file in Egypt and Qatar, as well as the technical teams of the intermediaries monitoring the implementation of all aspects of the agreement.

THREATS FROM ISRAEL AND THE U.S.
During this process, threats to Hamas came from Israel and the United States. President Donald Trump gave a deadline until Saturday, while the Israeli Defense Minister stated, “If the hostages are not released, the Gates of Hell will be opened.” In the first phase of the agreement, which has lasted 5 rounds so far, 16 Israelis and five Thais held by Hamas were released. In return, 766 Palestinian prisoners, including those serving life sentences, were set free. In the initial phase of the ceasefire agreement, a total of 33 Israeli hostages are expected to be exchanged for the freedom of 1,900 Palestinian prisoners.
