Public sector workers’ demand for raise revealed

Negotiations for a raise are starting for over 600 thousand public sector workers. Unions have conveyed workers’ raise demand to Minister Işıkhan. Workers requested the minimum wage to be increased to 1800 lira per day. They asked for a 50% raise to 1800 lira for the first 6 months.

They asked for a 50% raise to 1800 lira for the first 6 months. For the following 6 months, an additional 25% plus welfare allowance was requested. HOW WILL THE PROCESS PROCEED? After receiving the workers’ demands, Işıkhan will also ask for a proposal from the employer side, TÜHİS. Afterwards, the Ministry will announce a schedule, and formal negotiations will begin. The raise percentage for workers in public institutions such as highways, railways, power plants, ministries, universities, and hospitals will be finalized.
