Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that “Russia is ready to work together with the US in the field of rare earth elements. We definitely have more of such resources than Ukraine.” Putin also mentioned Trump’s intentions regarding Zelensky saying, “I believe Trump wants to improve the political situation in Ukraine. This initiative is more in Ukraine’s interest than Russia’s.” Putin shared his views on various topics with the Russian state channel Rossiya-24. Indicating that President Donald Trump influenced Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to run for presidency, Putin expressed, “Trump wants to improve the political situation in Ukraine. This initiative is more in Ukraine’s interest than Russia’s.” Putin highlighted how Trump desires peace in Ukraine similar to Russia, noting, “This is in the interest of Ukraine and the Ukrainian state. We have no objections to protecting the Ukrainian state.” Putin also mentioned Russia’s data showing that Zelensky has low chances of winning the presidency, stating, “His polling numbers are exactly twice as high as those of his closest political opponent, Valeriy Zalujnıy, Ukraine’s former Chief of General Staff who is exiled in London.” Putin criticized European officials for lack of awareness regarding developments in Ukraine, mentioning how difficult it is for them to deviate from their commitments. Putin highlighted the importance of the views of BRICS members regarding Ukraine, noting that he discussed this issue with Chinese President Xi Jinping, and consultations will take place soon in New York.

Putin emphasized Russia’s readiness to collaborate with the US in the field of rare earth elements, noting, “This doesn’t concern us. Russia is ready to work together with the US in the area of rare earth elements. We undeniably have more of such resources than Ukraine. Russia is unquestionably one of the leaders in rare earth elements reserves.” Regarding the possibility of reducing defense spending between the US and Russia, Putin mentioned, “Reducing defense budgets by 50% mutually with the US is a good idea, and China can join later if it so desires.” Addressing the tariffs imposed by the US on aluminum imports, Putin stated, “If the US decides to open its market to our producers, we can export approximately 2 million tons. I believe this will have a positive impact on price stability. Additionally, I think the most important thing is that we can collaborate with American companies in this field.” Putin also commented on Trump’s statement about consultations on significant economic projects with Russia, saying, “Yes, some of our companies are in touch and discussing such projects.”
